Wayne Bergmann calls on Tony Burke to stop gas processing at James Price Point - ABC Kimberley WA - Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The Aboriginal champion of a gas processing precinct north of Broome at James Price Point has altered his position and called on the Federal Environment Minister to not approve the project. Kimberley Land Council Director Wayne Bergmann says that Tony Burke should not approve the project because there are no plans in place to deal with the social impact.

  1. Well done, Wayne Bergmann, and thank you for your timely, wise and courageous stance and excellent judgment in choosing to save James Price Point from being wrecked (especially in the event of a cyclone on this spectacular, storm-prone coast) by the under-construction Woodside gas hub. You are a hero for your people and country, and history will remember you as such for this brave decision which has made my day.

  2. Didn't he save it once before?
Something to do with environmental guarantees?
He got those, then changed sides again.
Now he doesn't want it as there is no social impact thingy.
Should we expect the same Wayne again?
    Throw the switch to vaudeville?
