While it's unclear how the tussle over the land will play out in the Federal Court, it now appears increasingly unlikely the Government will be able to guarantee land access to Woodside and its joint venture partners when the deadline for a final investment decision passes at the end of June.Gas hub future unclear after native title dispute - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation): | ||
The Goolarabooloo families, led by brothers Phillip and
Joseph Roe, Richard Hunter have welcomed the decision.
Joseph Roe has told the ABC he feels "very, very
happy" to have the chance to put his family's claim before the court.
"(I'll) get my native title claim registered, protect
my sites up there, burial sites, the song cycle, and everything in that
country."
|
The implications for the land deal already struck are not
clear, but if the new claims are successfully registered, the Government would
be legally required to negotiate land access with both groups.

It would seem Barnett only wants Burke to make his decission before the WA election so as he can blame Burke for screwing it up.
ReplyDeleteBarnett, now fully aware he is not getting away with his corrupt process, would love a Labour scapegoat, and Burke is it.
Burke knows this.
Apart from the quotes in Redhands post there are a couple from Barnett worth mentioning, just to see his lies and deceit in the now glaring spotlight.
..
At stake is a benefits package worth around $1.3 billion dollars, should the project get the go-ahead.
The State Government has today confirmed it will honour its portion of the package, which comprises around $30 million dollars worth of funding, housing and land.
"However in a written statement, Premier Colin Barnett has warned Aboriginal people and the region would lose out should the project be jeopardised by the land dispute."
"It would be a tragedy if this economic opportunity was lost to the Kimberley," he said.
"One of the problems of the Kimberley is high dependency on welfare. This gives the people of the Kimberley a chance to determine their own economic future and to have the pride and self-respect in having real jobs and real improvements in their living conditions."
..
The paltry benefits package, spread over 100 years amongst all Kimberley Aboriginals, will not even go close to fixing the problems this project would create.
Barnett's $30 million funding, housing and land, would not even qualify as a drop in the bucket.(check out how much Royalties for Regions goes through in a year - or 100 years)
Aboriginal people and the region would NOT - REPEAT - NOT lose out should the project be jeopardised by the land dispute.
Everyone, barring a very few well connected destroyers of Broome and the Kimberley, would be far better off without it.
It would be a tragedy if this disaster was forced onto the Kimberley.
One of the problems of the Kimberley is high dependency on welfare - THERE WILL BE NO JOBS FOR KIMBERLEY PEOPLE.There certainly will be no jobs for the Aboriginal people Barnett is hell bent on locking up in jail in record numbers. No jobs for any victims of our failed education system. No jobs for any victims of our failed and disgraceful health system.Only more misery and heartache as the rich get richer and the poor poorer,as racist's and their creed get more and more powerfull and their efforts to colon- ise this country, and steal the land from under us,go into top gear.
...a chance to determine their own economic future and to have the pride and self-respect in having real jobs and real improvements in their living conditions?NO THERE IS NO CHANCE OF THE GAS PLANT MAKING THAT HAPPEN.It will create far more problems - and solve none.
....................
Very heartening to hear Joe is happy.
Many good wishes to all Goolarabooloo and their supporters.
Thinking the writing on the wall is so plain to see now, that posting all these reports of the direction the world of oil and gas is taking,is not really needed,as it seems the die it is cast and will not be changing.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed having a laugh at Barnett,Voelte and Coleman pretending to be King Canute's,but the moment has passed.
The gas plant at JPP was always doomed, never doubted it,from the first moment someone from the KLC mentioned it to me years ago.
I still stand by what I said:
"Events will conspire against it.Don't hitch your wagon to Barnett,he's an idiot. You can't just steal someone elses country these days, everything is too public now with the internet, everyone will know about it.Stand against it and you will come out on the right side."
Of course no one listened,"We need the money",they said.(got the impression it was them and not the rest of the Kimberley that "needed it")
"The poisons from that plant cause several types of childhood luekemias" - "We'll make a note of it"
They didn't.
So they sucked up into their own greeds, stopped talking to their family and friends, the community split, the war was on.
From nothing something grew and GREW.
And survived everything Woodscum,Barnett,Ferguson, the media scum, business greed, local government, you name it,could throw at it.
So,apart from something earthshaking, this is my last "Daily Un - Intelligence Report."
Otherwise known as,"Sh*t ain't the same like it used to be fools"
Or,"The writing is on the wall 10 miles high, open your eyes you idiots"
LOL
Woodside are still trying to figure out "how come?"
ReplyDeleteHaving just drilled a sh*tload of dusters, earning themselves the "Kings of the Australian Offset" title,Woodside just can't understand it!

Ophir Energy announced the successful results of its appraisal programme on the Mzia field, Block 1 Tanzania, and the commencement of its Block 1 flow testing programme.
Ophir holds 40% of Blocks 1, 3 and 4; the BG Group operates with 60%.
Successful Mzia-2 Appraisal
The Mzia-2 appraisal well was drilled approximately 4km to the southeast of the 2012 Mzia-1 discovery well in 1622m of water. Mzia-2 encountered 62m of net gas pay in Cretaceous reservoirs and established pressure communication between the Mzia-2 and Mzia-1 gas columns. This result confirms a vertical gas column of at least 200m for the Mzia field.

Based on the policy “Develop action plans towards the introduction of a significant amount of lean LNG, including the LNG to be exported from the U.S, which will comprise about half of the entire procurement amount (maximum of 10 million tons/year)” which is stated in the “Intensive Reform Implementation Action Plan” developed last November, TEPCO has considered multiple LNG supply sources including American LNG in order to achieve the introduction of lean LNG.
In addition to approx. 800,000 tons (annual) of lean LNG to be purchased from the Cameron Project, approx. 1.2 million tons (annual) will be committed through purchases from multiple sources, which will be a total of 2 million tons of lean LNG to be secured. We consider this as the first step towards achieving the target of 10 million lean LNG, TEPCO said.
