Gas hub in the balance but one source said, “It will not happen” | The Stringer:
It has been a good fight by the Kimberley residents and environmentalist groups and by the Goolarabooloo Elders, Theresa, Joseph and Philip Roe and Elder Richard and Errol Hunter. If it wasn’t for their public stances, the picket lines at James Price Point (Walmadany), and Walmadan Tent Embassy the board members and executives who are concerned about public perceptions may well have kept quiet.
Some believe that it’s over – that the venture group will decide to go with the cheaper offshore flotilla option but don’t believe it. Our sources tell us it may go either way. Federal Resources and Tourism Minister Gary Gray, a former Woodside executive, is pushing for the offshore option. He is in the know and therefore he knows it has every chance of getting up. Premier Barnett is pushing for the onshore option and he too is in the know so he well knows that there is a good chance his preferred option gets up.
