A MAJOR national bank has been forced to remove more than 100 misleading out of order signs from its ATMs after being targeted by anti-coal activists.
A score of ANZ Banking Group machines sprawled across six capital cities were plastered with "out of order" signs on Sunday after campaigners launched their latest bid to draw attention to the bank's funding of the coal industry.
We saved country and doomed our people to a lifetime of government support and lost opportunity.
ReplyDeleteSneaky surveys, rigged votes, going behind peoples backs, saying things like,"we're going to steal someone elses country",cutting people out including rightful TO's,telling people,"you have no say",and other examples of how not to go about creating opportunities.
DeleteBecause whether you like it or not YOU WILL NOT CREATE OPPORTUNITIES BY SCREWING PEOPLE OVER.
Message to Hunter,Parriman, and the KLC - "TRY INCLUDING EVERYONE NEXT TIME".
Woodside's withdrawal & the Goolarabooloo victory is such good news. Our heartfelt thanks to every single person who has supported the David in this David & Goliath battle. It is a battle which should never have been necessary but once started had to be won. Culture was always more important than money & always will be. Well done everyone, especially Red Hand who has done so much.
ReplyDeleteWish we were up there to celebrate with you all.

DeleteGood morning Redhand, and congratulations to all the campaigners.
ReplyDeleteJust looking through the papers this morning, and there are dozens of stories with dozens of angles, but they all seem to miss the point.(no pun intended).Apart from Geoffrey Cousins,a couple of Green ones, and of course some from the "Real" TO's.
All my life I have worked in construction and the one thing I found strange about this campaign was that all the intelligent reporting was to be found on Green blogs!
Anyone who cared to look back at Voeltes career would have no trouble in tracing the true cause of this disaster,BUT of course in big time business circles you DO NOT sully another mans reputation - it's not the done thing, old chap.
In reality it all comes down to one thing "Poor Site Selection",and that is that.
And we can add to that Pluto and Sunrise and for that matter the NWS gas plant, although not Voeltes fault it set the precedent for poor site selection and an attitude that environment, culture and heritage had no importance against the financial wishes of oil and gas majors and miners.
And it is this very attitude that bought their plans unstuck.
A selection of this mornings headlines in the big papers.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Joe, Phillip, Theresa, Richard and all you wonderful people who stood up so heroically for country, who refused to sell out no matter what. You are true heroes, in every way. Your fellow Aboriginals who went the other way ought to be ashamed of themselves for it was you who did what that late, great elder Paddy Roe always said was essential for the present and future of the whole world, for all living things and for all the kids to come - "Gotta look after this country the proper way. This is living country where all life began, right here ... it's a very big thing. Here, we lookin' after the bottom of everything (the very foundation of all life - the spirit)... yair." And all you beautiful people, keep standing high, too, because the greedy bastards who have no real reverence for all of life don't give up easily. They'll be thinking of what else they can do to get that land, not realising the more they think the more they will lose, in every way. No-one can take on That Fella and beat him, no-one. What has happened is proof of that and a clear warning to anyone who ever again tries, for whatever reason, to interfere with or destoy the sacred songcycle that goes all the way from the Goolarabooloo land through Uluru to the other side.
