Dinosaur footprints may be obliterated - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
Conservationists are concerned dinosaur footprints on the Dampier Peninsula will be affected by the gas hub (file)
Reports commissioned by the West Australian Government have concluded dinosaur footprints near the site chosen for the Kimberley gas hub are not worth preserving.
The fossilised dinosaur footprints along the coast north of Broome are recognised as some of the oldest and best preserved in the world.
If Uluru was in the way of this thing they would rubbish it,an unremarkable piece of rock, unlike the more iconic Olgas.
ReplyDeleteGoodness me, isn't anything worth valuing, saving and treasuring more than money and Barnett's pride
ReplyDeleteGiven that Prof Tony Thurlow, palaeontologist, has already declared the dinosaur trackways,& their integration into Aboriginal culture & law as unique, & of world class importance how are we to understand this latest report. One might be forgiven for thinking that the Dept of palaeontology at the WA museum have been 'got at' by those who commissioned the so called study. Surprise surprise, it *was* commissioned by those who would desecrate country - the WA Government!

ReplyDeleteI have just been to the WA Museum site and the Woodside logo is plastered all over it.
ReplyDeleteIf you have photos of Woodside all over the WA Museum could you please forward to redhanded@rocketmail.com.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information.
Redhanded, sorry I meant the WA Museum internet site.I followed a Kree Eyre comment link from STK.However, sponsers do drape their logos all over the place, and I wouldn't mind betting The WA Museum has quite a few here and there. That would make a good photo!

ReplyDeleteWithout funding of companies the WA Museum wouldn't be here. If Woodside have the funds to spend then why is that an issue?
ReplyDeleteWould you rather it closes or no research is done?
It's only in the last 15 years or so that the discovery of the coral spawning on the very well researched Great Barrier Reef has been discovered. For Woodside to pretend that chucking a million or two over a few years is even going to scratch the surface of Kimberley knowledge is obscene. No one knows what is on the land, let alone the sea,and yet Woodside,Chevron and the Premier, use this half baked information to justify building their gas plant at Prices Point, because there is nothing worth saving there. If this is all they intend using their research for then yes,it would be better no research was done.

ReplyDeleteWoodside is the Patron of the WA Museum - the only patron in fact.
Not so easy to give a frank and fearless opinion with that hanging over your job?
That's right,"who's your Daddy?".Woodside is or was funding some research on quite a large vessel off the JPP coast. The young marine biologists were in town for a spell letting everyone know who would listen, there was no doubt whatsoever this gas plant was a certainty. They were very happy to oblige their masters in anyway they could. After all, they were having a great time!
ReplyDeleteHow can this be? Even a single print of such an historic nature is worth preserving.
ReplyDeleteHow can this be? Isn't a single print of such historical value worth preserving? Do notdo this for the sake of our own comforts.
