  5. It basically means that the Jabirr Jabirr People claimants do not have negotiating rights. It is not a "determination" and it does not mean the demise of the claim. Only the Federal Court can dismiss a claim.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Of course the claimants on the "Jabirr Jabirr People" claim are also on the "Goolarabooloo Jabirr Jabirr" claim so it is not that they do not get a say - It comes down to which group gets represented.

  7. Can someone please explain how Wayne Barker and Pat Torres (Djabera Djabera Claimants) have ended up on the Jabirr Jabirr TONC????

I would think that considering Djabera Djabera lodged their own claim excluding all other Jabirr Jabirr people that it is pretty cheeky for them to be a part of this or Jabirr Jabirr people don't know how to stand up for themselves!!

  8. Thankyou. If the law is an ass, then I guess Native title Law must be the bit under the tail?Keep up the good work.Don't know where we would be without you.Cheers.A few of your many admirers.

  9. Re Barker and Torres. This goes,I believe,to the core problem with corrupt Land Councils.A few divvy up between them whats going around. The same names crop up time after time.So it becomes very easy for different "groups" to agree with each other.Because they are basically talking to themselves all the time.A bit like Barnett being both Premier and Treasurer at the same time.He must write letters back and forth to himself! Then they have their tame lap dogs, who are constantly reminded of which side their bread is buttered on.Do everything I say or you won't get any more crumbs from me.And the same tame lap dogs turn up time after time. All that is needed then is a Quisling like Bergman to run the show, and hey presto, any one who doesn't agree with them can be got rid of quick smart. It is a lot more a dictatorship than anything approaching democracy.

  10. without knowing the exact circumstances for the individuals named, it is quite feasible for a person to be on the list for more than one claim group. One down the mother's line and one down the father's.

  11. As regards all the overlapping of jobs controlled by the same old faces. If we took all the Aboriginal committees, boards, etc.in Broome, surely it is possible to get a list of who serves on what as what?It would be very helpful if the lists went back some years. It would then be possible to see exactly how corrupt this arrangement is.Is it law these lists must be given up?Freedom of Information?Lets take one well known example,Mary Tarran, family name Djiagween. Her long suffering mother,Cecilia, one of the sick old ladies hung out to dry by the KLC this week.It is well known around town her health has been put in jeopardy by the KLC.She has been dragged from pillar to post for some years now.No wonder such terrible language has been used by her and some other old people, they must be well and truly sick from it.But her daughter Mary is on just about every thing going around. So the agenda she pushes finds its way into all sorts of places. The usual levers get pulled and people toe the party line.Sounds just like whitefella boardrooms, right. But where is the conflict of interest laws as regards these decisions? They must be disclosed, and the people doing this must be held to account. When people are heard openly bragging in pubs and hotels of the under the table cash payments, lump sums, bonus and one off cashies, that these people get from these jobs, you would have to wonder who knows about them?Yes it's all very nice and goes on everywhere. But how come none of these people get held to account by anyone? Not Homeswest. Not Centrelink. Not the tax office. Not the ACC.So,it must therefore be corruption by consent of government. There is the cesspool we are all looking at!

  12. Without making any comment on the specific people you mention I must acknowledge the your general point about the same old faces. It is like this everywhere in the Kimberley and probably everywhere in the country. People are looking out for their own family first up. If Broome is like may other places then one does not need to go too far to find an example of someone on a sweet income with a car and perks who doesn't show up to work more than a few days a month.

    The trick is to focus.

Redhand is doing a great job!

This blog is the scattergun. In amongst the irrelevant tangents (sorry) there are pearls and the trick is for Redhand's followers (like myself) to sort out the wheat from the wood.

Red lets fly, stream of conciousness - like. It is up to others to take one question at a time (just one) and follow through on it. Because nobody else will.

I'm sorry, but the latest video on You tube is a PR disaster. It makes me (who is on side) want to barrack for the contractors because whoever it is that is sounding off at them sounds very unstable.

We are going to need the Union movement.

This video is going to make it hard for union delegates and reps to convince their rank and file that we are worth supporting.

What is the point at such a rant?

As a follower on you tube my question is "If Richard Hunter has a problem with them in his campsite then why isn't he in the film instead of some bunny who is coming across as an emotional wreck claiming authority in a film that presents no evidence of that authority"

I do not mean to be harsh. However everyone has had a rough week and tempers are frayed.

It is not as bad as it looks.

    Have faith and Hold Fast.

  15. Think what you like, mate.
If the quality of truth comes down to what side of the fence you are on then we are in a totalitarian movement.
I do not like the video. I do not know who that fellow is who is speaking on behalf of Richard Hunter. All I know is what I see and hear.
What I see are some blokes trying to have a smoke and what I hear is someone who loves the sound of his own voice.
That's my view and I am entitled to it and anybody is free to disagree. But if you think that I have to agree with you on this point in order to be on the same side as you then you are mistaken.
I guess I see it as unbalanced because I hear my own voice circa 1993 in that video. I don't mean any offence. I do have to say it as I see it, though.

  16. RE Chaff sorter.

    My point is this.
The decision not to register the Jabirr Jabirr People's claim was on the Native Title Tribunal Website for a time.
To pursue the line that it is somehow a KLC conspiracy that Roe's counsel was not informed until 1 Dec - that is chaff. The information was publicly available.

The thing is with movements to stop a development such as this is that people get really burned out. they get tired, the energy levels come and go and it all gets too much. People need breaks, they need time out to recharge the batteries.
That is why workplaces have annual leave.
Activists get the feeling that if they step away from the fight then things will collapse. You can look at it that way - or you can recognise that you have friends all over the country who can step into the breech.

So you have to think about what will be achieved from conspiracy theories and overt displays of irrational speech and thinking.

You will attract conspiracy theorists and people who think it is okay to take a public stage and behave in ways that are inappropriate for an organisation that is assertive, professional and committed to victory.

You need to be assertive and professional and committed to victory in order to win.

A movement needs a broad array of voices. There is a place for those "crying in the wilderness". Free thinking is essential. Freedom of expression - essential. But not everything expressed is on target.

It would be wrong to stymie someone's voice because most of what they say or some of what they say is off the mark because as long as they keep thinking and throwing stuff into the mix. Some of it is going to be spot on.

It is the task of activists to wade into the "mix" and follow up on the ideas. There may be ideas that seem ludicrous that, hen folloed up, open a can of worms.

What I'm saying is that the Jabirr Jabirr people's claim - I've known for time that it as not registered. I did not know Joe Roe did not know or I would have told him.

You could say I'm practising what I preach. I followed the line up. I believe there is no conspiracy and have told you why.
My challenge to you is to take some little piece of the puzzle and do the digging. Find the truth and report.

In the meantime, Redhand, keep doing what you are doing. you have more friends than you know.

Tell me if I am talking rubbish and tell me what it is exactly that is rubbish.

  20. Sorry, I was wrong.
It was only last Monday that I read the Native Title Tribunal website to see the Jabirr Jabirr people's claim had been refused registration.

Also, talking to a few people it seems I may be on my own regarding the spray that bloke gave the contractors. My opinion still stands though. And yes "unbalanced" still stands too.

  21. Interesting to see that today (6 December 2010) there are a raft of Native Title Directions Hearings in the Federal Court. This "appears" to come following an interview with A/g KLC Executive Director, Nolan Hunter last week. Nolan was critical of the WA Government of stalling tactics by witholding determinations over a number of Native Title Claims in the Kimberley, stating it was an attempt to get KLC to sign off on the LNG agreement.

  22. Maybe it's some desperate attempt by the KLC and Barnett to make it look like the KLC still has balls.Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that sack has been hanging empty for some time.

  23. I'm happy Chas has sorted the chaff!Must agree with him on the annual leave.C'mon the rain!!!

  24. Could the Torres/Barker move be related to the Jabirr Jabirr claim failure, and the Native title hearings in the Federal Court? The government trying to keep this thing on the rails?

  26. Jabirr Jabirr claim failed to meet overlapping claim issue, namely Goolarabooloo have a claim overlapping the area in question and uncertain whether Ngumbal people also in process of lodging a claim. KLC supposedly don't support overlapping claims so will be interesting to see how they traverse this case or will they now change their position because it could lead to a big pay day for them????

Other TOs in the Kimberley will be watching on with interest as a number have ongoing disputes due to overlapping claims etc.

  27. Thanks very much for all the answers,I'm sure you appreciate there are so many"first timers"trying to get a handle on this.I'm sure you are very busy, but wishful thinking,be great to have a place people could post Q's and get a well informed A.Something this gas plant never has enough of,as we all know.

  28. I agree with Charlie. The guy in the video sounds like an extremist which the general public will turn off to straight away. Just like the constant swearing in your other videos. Clean it up and get someone presentable and not ranting at people to present it and you will get your point across.
Red Hand has some very intelligent and well spoken people within their ranks. Use one of them not this rabid fool.

This thread is about the Registration decision for Jabirr Jabirr, not the drilling being conducted by Woodside.
