Woodside to join JPP case as respondent - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Woodside to join JPP case as respondent - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation):

Woodside Petroleum has been ordered by the Supreme Court to join a case affecting its proposed LNG hub in the Kimberley.

WA chief justice Wayne Martin today instructed the oil and gas producer to join the case being brought by the Wilderness Society and traditional land owner Richard Hunter.

They are seeking to have the court overturn a report from the Environmental Protection Authority and subsequent decisions by former Environment Minister Bill Marmion which led to the project being approved to be built at James Price Point.

The court's decision means Woodside will now join the case as a third respondent, alongside the EPA and Mr Marmion.

The court is yet to set a hearing date.
